Digital Marketig
Digital Marketing is a form of marketing that helps us to interact with people online. It can be of many types like email marketing, social media marketing, brochure marketing, etc. but the foundation of every digital marketing technique remains the same, SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
SEO means to increase the traffic or audience engagement on your website or social media accounts so that more and more people follow your activities and work. Digital Marketing enables us to reach people and convince them to be our customers without even meeting them physically.
One of the initial steps of digital marketing is Social Media Marketing (SMM). Most of the working people (early 20’s to late 30’s) of the world have an account or two on any social media platform(s). Today’s youth spends a quite lot of time on social media connecting with people and socializing. Can there be any place better than this for marketing? Here comes in picture the PPC (Paid Per Click). PPC is a method of driving traffic to your website by paying a publisher every time your ad is clicked.
But PPC is not the only way to increase the audience engagement on our website or social media account. If you are a fresher in field of digital marketing, you can follow some basic steps to boost the traffic on your social media account. Firstly, try to get all possible information of the organization you are working for. Creating a social media account and updating or handling it seems easy but it is not a piece of cake. If the content of the account or on website becomes repetitive the complete platform starts to look monotonous and boring, which is why variety in the posts and content is necessary. Make notes of the points that can be used to create content and work accordingly.
Secondly, there are many online applications available to make posts more attractive, so try finding the ones that you are comfortable to work with. Every post you create should have 2–3 elements in common, that includes:
· LOGO of the organisation
· A permanent TAGLINE
· A FOOTER containing the basic information like contact number and website.
This is very helpful as people who see your posts frequently and follow the organization, the image of logo and tagline is embedded in their heads and if ever mentioned they can easily remember it.
Colours of the image do matter. Try making the profile colourful, not too dull but also not too vibrant. Using soothing colour combinations is the best idea. If you see the post as a viewer and you feel its attractive, that’s it! It’s a bingo.
Thirdly and most important part of any content that is being posted is HASHTAGS. Hashtags are used to reach people who don’t follow your account but do follow the hashtag. They are used to target the audience who are genuinely interested in working with you. But if you have just started the page or a social media account, we first need all kinds of audience. Initially, in the first couple of weeks, to increase the audience engagement, we can target all kind of audience, irrespective of the content we will be sharing. Later on, we will be targeting the audience that are truly interested in the content and would like a conversion.
Fourth and the last part is analysis of your work. This work is made easy by the INSIGHTS provided by every social media platform. It is helpful as it tells us everything related to our account. What kind of audience is viewing the content, their age bars, city, at what time, on what day, etc. It gives us the information as to how should we proceed and in which direction should we be headed. We can work accordingly and boost the traffic on the website and other accounts.
This is all about marketing that can be done without even spending a single penny and still maintain the audience engagement to an average level. No doubt you can think of some areas of your strategy that could use a little improvement, though. Digital marketing has a much wider scope that is yet to be discovered. Till then think and work creative.
