Men Can Be Victim Too
It is rightly said that, “A Man is guilty until proven innocent but a Women is innocent until proven guilty”. We have grown up in a society where we naturally believe that a woman is always a victim and a man is always the oppressor. While that happens in majority of the cases but that does not decrease the possibility of things happening other way round.
Most of the times, the idea of a man being a victim seems funny to people. It is because the man has always been seen as the stronger gender. But we need to understand that mental abuse or torture can even break the strongest souls. No one is immune to mental abuse, it causes harm one or the other way.
Men who have been in a toxic relationship have always feared to speak out about what they have faced because they are scared that their other significant partner might turn the tables and make them look like the abusive one. The main reason for their thoughts to take this turn is the “male” upbringing in the society.
Men are taught not to express their feelings as soon as they start speaking. They are told to fit in the standards of masculinity defined by society often heard as, “Suck it Up”, “Don’t cry like a girl” & most commonly “Be a Man”. While all this is embedded in their systems since beginning, they feel embarrassed to open up to people in later stages of their life. According to them, this doesn’t fit in the toxic definition of “manhood” and they are scared of being out casted.
Men cannot even speak about their suffering because they are always on guard as to when and how the “Women Card” will be played or a #MeToo case will be thrown their way. #MeToo is not a women’s movement but a campaign for all the victims regardless their gender, but again, it’s by default considered only for females. We all need to agree that women have an upper hand when talking about putting allegations. The women taking the undue advantage of this are nothing but the darker side to #MeToo Movement.
Once an allegation is placed on a man, the general public declares him an abuser even before the court proves anything. Whatever the result might be later on, he is already tagged as a criminal and his complete life is ruined. He is bound to leave his job, his family and his complete hard worked accomplishments. A dark shadow of his not so dark past will always be hanging around his neck in whatever he does and wherever he goes.
The women who have started to use this “benefit of doubt” situation for their own favor, you all are completely deranged. Because of these false cases, the actual female victims have to suffer a setback. Snatching someone’s life and hope because things didn’t go your way with them is the darkest and the most selfish thing you can do to anyone.
All I want by publishing this article is to tell people that not all victims are as saintly as they portray themselves. It takes years to build one’s reputation but only a single social media post to destroy it. Social Media is not completely real but a very powerful tool to make things seem real. Believe only what is stated by facts & proofs and not mere statements.
Give men a chance to speak and put forward their side of story. This might stop destroying innocent lives.
These are just few cases that have been brought to light but many still remain hidden:
