What If?

In the shadows of my life, I slowly fade,
Each choice I've made, a haunting masquerade.
The past, a weight, a burden too profound,
I feel so foolish, lost on rocky ground.

The past, a specter, whispers of my shame,
I drown in sorrow, crushed by guilt and blame.
Each step I took, a journey to despair,
My life unraveled and I could only feel unfair.

In the mirror, I see a broken soul,
Reflections cold, a story left untold.
The choices made, they haunt me through the night,
A never-ending maze of endless fright.

Regret's icy fingers clutch my tired heart,
Each decision a dagger, tearing me apart.
The past, a cruel and unforgiving foe,
Tapped within its grasp, with nowhere left to go.

As I see my past tinged in shades of grey,
Wondering if the present is what I have to pay?
Will tomorrow be better than today?
What if someday I will really be okay?
